Hi, I'm Lou.
Nice to finally meet you!

I write website and blog copy for people who are very good at what they do, but a little tired of trying to explain it in writing. This is where I tell you how I ended up doing this for a living, and how I'll work with you if we team up.

My story

I didn't start out wanting to be a copywriter — I started out being the person friends handed their emails to before hitting send. "Can you just make this sound less awkward?" turned into freelance projects, which turned into a proper business a few years ago, once I noticed a pattern: the people I worked with weren't bad communicators. They were just too close to their own work to see how to explain it simply.

That gap between "I know I'm good at this" and "I can prove it in writing" — that's the whole job, really.

These days I work mostly with coaches, consultants and small teams who are past the DIY-website stage but don't want an agency treatment either. Somewhere in between — copy that's considered, but still sounds like one person wrote it, because one person did.

How I like to work

Your words first

Every project starts with how you actually talk about your work — in calls, in DMs, in voice notes to yourself. I borrow from that before I write a single line.

One point of contact

No handoffs, no account managers. You talk to me from the first call to the last edit.

Structured, not stiff

I plan pages properly — what goes where, and why — but the result should still read like a person, not a template.

Honest about fit

If I don't think I'm the right person for your project, I'll tell you that upfront instead of taking it anyway.

Background

The formal bits — where I studied and where I've worked, for anyone who likes to check.

Education

BA in Communication & Media Studies, University of Amsterdam. Followed up with a certificate in Content Strategy from General Assembly in 2019.

Work Experience

Four years in-house as a copywriter for a B2B SaaS company, writing everything from onboarding emails to the company blog. Freelance since 2021, working with coaches, consultants and small teams across Europe.

Training & Certifications

SEO copywriting certification (2022), UX writing fundamentals (2023).

When I'm not writing
fot other people

A few things worth knowing about me that have nothing to do with copywriting, but tend to come up anyway.

Currently based in

Lisbon, after a few years of moving around Europe.

Usually reading

Whatever a client's industry is — right now that's beekeeping and behavioural economics.

Can't work without

A stupidly specific playlist for every single project.

Outside of work

Long walks, second-hand bookshops, and a running list of overheard sentences that are too good not to use somewhere.

It this sounds like a fit,
let's talk!
